Five stars except for a couple of gripes.Mar 26, 2011
By UTAlumnus PRO: 1. Excellent reception on all three bands. 2. The alarm clock uses the last setting for the radio. Old one used the same alarm screamer as the weather alert. 3. Nice size. About the same height & width as the one its replacing except a little thicker (the old one was weather & clock only) 4. Rechargeable batteries & AC adapter included. 5. The radio will charge the batteries when plugged in. 6. Feels well constructed.
CON: 1. Controls are not the easiest to figure out (see 2). 2. Instruction manual disagrees with the way the radio actually operates & totally neglects how to switch alarm on & off (press & hold the mode button).
If the manual was better, it would have gotten five stars.

Good, sturdy weather radioJul 25, 2010
By Jordan Malfoy I was looking primarily for a sturdy weather radio to use during hurricane season and this definitely does the job. At least two of the weather frequency bands come in clear as well as many of the AM/FM bands. It does come with an AC charger, but AA batteries can also be used. The battery lasts about two weeks in standby mode. It's small enough to be easily carried and seems fairly sturdy. Overall, this seems to be a good weather radio and the FM/AM radio is a nice addition, though this probably wouldn't make a good every day AM/FM radio.

Great product!Apr 24, 2010
By Conrad W. Bruce I recently ordered this radio because I was looking for a small AM/FM radio to take on walks and take with me to the park with my kids. (Believe it or not it is hard to find an AM/FM pocket radio these days) Anyways, this unit is great. Gets great reception on everything including the NOAA which I have never been able to get with any other radios. Has plenty of MEMORY CHANNELS so you can skip to your favorite channels as well as manually scan. It has very good sound for such a small unit. The light on it is a nice feature and there is no problem illuminating your way with it if the power were to go out. The STANDBY feature is nice as it monitors the NOAA and has a red blinking light so if the power were to go out you can find it in the dark. The instructions with it for setting it up are very user friendly and I had no problems getting it going. I am very happy with it. Everthing I was looking for and more.
For those interested, these are things not mentioned in any description I found about it. The unit is powered by 3 AA batteries and also has in input for a 6V adapter power supply (not included). It also has an input for earphone. Both of these inputs have a rubber plug to keep dust and moisture out. The ALARM CLOCK turns the radio on only so if the volume is turned down it you won't hear it. It has a sleep timer so it shuts off anywhere from 1 to 480 minutes. A very nice feature so you don't forget about it and drain the batteries. (BTW the battery life on this radio is very good.) And the unit has a telescopic antenna. It does not have a loop in which to attach and hand strap or lanyard which would be handy by not a big deal.
Can't go wrong with it in my opinion. I'm extremely happy with it.

AM/FM/NOAA offers a better reception. The best portable radio.Nov 03, 2010
By MrJazzyLounge Hello from El Paso, TX. This portable radio is the best because it has a better AM/FM reception and I can hear it very clear the NOAA frequency WNG 162.550 in Spanish for the greater El Paso area. Other portable AM/FM/NOAA radios don't offer better AM reception like the Life+Gear brand. Get one, you will never be dissapointed and the batteries last longer on this radio. The only place you can find this radio is right here on Amazon. You will not going to find it in anywhere so get this radio soon. Enjoy it.
